MUSIC & LYRICS BY Dmitry Koltunov
BOOK BY David Goldsmith
An original musical inspired by the life and music of its eclectic composer and lyricist, Fallout is the story of a family of Ukrainian immigrants who flee the anti-Semitism of Soviet Russia in the late 1980s. After settling in Brighton Beach Brooklyn, the family struggles for years to escape the long shadow of the past; but the younger son, emerging into the burgeoning tech world of the early 2000s, finds stirrings of hope in a new iteration of the American Dream.
Our HandS
Award-winning short that takes us into the world of the show.
In the late 1980s, the Kelvanov family flees Soviet Ukraine for a better life, landing in Brighton Beach - a lively enclave in NY known as "Little Odesa." Forced to start over, they trade respected careers for manual labor jobs, confronting the harsh realities of immigrant life.
Their modest home becomes both a sanctuary and a symbol of uncertainty. The father, a former physics teacher now driving a cab, tries to become a teacher again. As the family struggles to find their place, they find hope and resilience in one simple idea: we build our future by working with our hands.
